WASP- Andrea Arnold

Wasp- Andrea Arnold

The narrative has a linear story-line and jumps straight into the action. Since the beginning the conflict is involved between the main character and some another mother as their children had a fight and which indicates her immature as she deals with a conflict aggressively with force. We can consider Dave's arrival as disruption into her normal life. She lies about her children and when she wants to go out on a date with him she leaves her four children outside of the pub for the whole day.
Zoe's conflict is also in not being able to go out somewhere without them as she doesn't have anyone to look after them and also she's struggling with money and buying them food. The resolution is created when Dave finds out about children and ends up ambiguously with him buying them chips and driving away in a car which can have more endings but it can also be hope for the children.

Andrea Arnold's 'Wasp' Now Screening for Free Online in the Wake ...Character development for Zoe- she cares for them and love them and trying the best to keep them however fails when she leaves them outside and by other conversations in the movie we can tell that it's common for her to leaving them alone for some time. However she's clearly young and wants to live her own life and again meeting with Dave gives her new chance and second hope. When her daughter screams for her she leaves Dave in the car and rushes to them to find out that in baby's mouth is a wasp. Firstly she yells at them and afterwards hugging them and apologising. She realises that even when she wants to have fun too, she needs to put them on first place.

Film form- there is perceptible hand camera movement that occurs from the beginning, for disorienting the audience. There is also lots of close ups or middle close ups on faces, especially children, to show their emotions. In the mise-en-scene we get seen in what kind of environment and area they live, also their clothes or at the beginning we see the baby half naked and Zoe without shoes when she goes to fight the woman. Lighting is bright and natural, there's also not really used any sound effects and the audience focuses only on the spoken words.
